Our History
RM Elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Owner and head instructor Roger Myers II has more than a decade of Jiu-Jitsu experience. Drawing from his own experiences to build his school’s curriculum and environment. As a Next Generation MMA affiliate, RM Elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is rooted in more than two decades of history. Founded in 1998 by 5 stripe black belt and MMA veteran Chris Brennan. Next Generation MMA has grown to include multiple affiliation locations worldwide.
RM Elite owner and head instructor Roger Myers II first connected with Next Generation as a student, beginning his Jiu-Jitsu journey there in 2011. After earning his blue belt in 2012. Myers went on to join Brennan’s Instructor Program in 2013. Fast forward to 2015 and Myers had his first experience running a martial arts school, opening Next Generation MMA in Anna, Texas with Clark Miller.
Ultimately earning his black belt in January 2020, Myers was soon faced with a tough business obstacle when Covid-19 hit.
Despite being forced to shut down Next Generation in May 2020. Myers pivoted and began teaching BJJ out of his home as an alternative. And this is where RM Elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was born. After continually growing his student base and finding temporary homes for teaching along the way, Myers is thrilled to now have a permanent home in Van Alstyne, Texas for RM Elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a Next Generation MMA affiliate.
